As one of the most high-profile fashion events in the world, London Fashion Week (LFW) is always a significant occasion in the capital.
Whether you are into your designer labels or prefer to stick to high street brands when it comes to what you wear, you can’t help but marvel at the spectacle that LFW is, when the planet’s fashion media and celebrities alike descend on the city to celebrate all things glamorous.
Getting underway on September 12th, the party lasts for five whole days from Friday to Tuesday, which is great if you are looking for something to do in-between courses over the weekend.
As well as being a fantastic way to indulge your style needs, it is estimated by organisers the British Fashion Council that over £100 million of orders are placed by retailers across LFW each season, with the International Guest Programme being responsible for at least £50 million of this.
London is well known across the world as a diverse capital city and this is at its clearest during LFW, with famous faces, fashionistas and those who are simply curious to see what all the fuss is about mingling seamlessly.
So, what can you look forward to? As well as 60 catwalk shows on the official schedule, there are a further 45 similar events being run in an unofficial capacity and 30 presentations and salon exhibits.
Taking place at Somerset House, just off the bank of the Thames, the location is easy to find and is situated close to the Temple underground station. Even if you don’t get the opportunity to catch a show, just taking in the atmosphere and the buzz of the occasion is well worth the short journey.
Even if September’s event has come too soon for you to arrange your training course schedule around, don’t worry – LFW is bi-annual, meaning the whole thing happens all over again in February.
